Description

The Carbide.ui family of tools enable the creation of themes for Symbian and Series 40 devices. Carbide.ui provides access to all the customisable theme elements in the Symbian and Series 40 UIs, which are among the most customisable device UIs available. Carbide.ui is designed for professionals and hobbyists alike.

Carbide.ui Symbian Theme Edition 4.0 is available. This updated version of Carbide.ui is based on Eclipse 3.6 and provides an improved UX. A redesigned workspace simplifies access to theme components, component properties, and screen previews. Other new features include the ability to print a full set of screen previews to PDF and an integrated product updater.

Known Issues

There are known limitations with themes on Symbian^3 release PR1.0 and PR1.1, please see the release notes for more information.

Note: Developers wishing to create themes for S60 2nd Edition devices or audio themes for S60 devices can do so by using Carbide.ui 3.4 Theme Edition.

Requirements

Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 or later; Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2 or later; or any version of Microsoft Windows Vista or 32-bit Windows 7. (Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit recommended.)
1 GB of RAM (2 GB of RAM is recommended).
1 GB of free disk space.
1.5-GHz processor (a 2.8-GHz processor is recommended).
A sound card is recommended.
A display supporting 16-bit colour at 1280 x 1024 pixels (24-bit recommended).
